Video Games: The Movie

Any and all Gamers need to stop whatever it is they're doing right now and pick up a copy of Video Games: The Movie.  This is easily one of the best gaming documentaries I've ever watched.

I can't even really describe the level of validation I felt after watching this movie.  The fact that they took it way, waaaay back and talked about the pre-cursor to Pong, which most credit as the one that started it all, is astounding to me.  Apparently, even before Pong, was the "PDP-1" which was created specifically to showcase the capabilities of interactive display screen tied to a computer.  Do you realize what this means?  Pong has a Mommy!  And that Mommy's name?  Space Wars!

It's truly a strange experience to watch the storytelling in this documentary.  In so many ways, the development in the video game industry follows my youth as I was introduced to the NES, Super NES, Genesis, Playstation, etc...  I was literally watching myself grow as I followed along the progression in the gaming industry.  Not gonna lie... I got a little misty-eyed.

Did I mention the cool cameos by celebrities like Wil Wheaton (of course), Donald Faison and Zach Braff?  Although in Zach's case, he's apparently the Exec Producer of this movie so he kinda doesn't count.... but still!

So yeah, go get it and go watch it!  You'll thank me for it later!
